We all know major US brands and companies which still exist on the market. However there have been more then 1 800 overall brands at the beginning of the automotive industry development in America. Some of them have disappeared for good. Nevertheless, they affected further development of industry. Here are some of them.
Chalmers
Chalmers brand was named in honor of its founder Huge Chalmers. The company was mainly focused on producing expensive autos which cost about $2000 which was a great fortune during the beginning of 1900-s.
DeSoto
Development of DeSoto brand started in 1928 and ended up in 1960 with more than 2 million cars produced and sold over this period. The main feature of the brand was a unique Spanish style in every car presented by the owner and founder of the company.
Fargo
Fargo was another popular American truck producing company which appeared as separate brand and was later purchased by Chrysler to create Fargo Truck Company as rebranding campaign.
Plymouth
Plymouth brand was created in 1928 and developed till 2001. It used to be a part of Chrysler Corporation producing vehicles which were very popular not only on the US market.
